Puppy Grooming
We love puppies and we strongly encourage our clients to bring their puppies in to the shop as soon as they can!
Stop for a minute and think about the number of groomings, baths, ear cleanings, nail trimmings, etc. that your puppy will experience throughout its lifetime. We cannot stress enough the importance of exposing your puppies to these experiences as early as possible.
Bandit's Bathhouse offers special puppy pricing, from free nail clipping and filing to $10.00 to trim and file nails, trim hair around the dogs' eyes and feet, to $25.00 full grooming for puppies under 5 months of age. Usually, the younger the dog is, the lower our price is. All Puppy specials are arranged individually with the dogs' owner.
To help your dog get used to the grooming routine, be sure to;
- brush and/or comb him regularly
- play with his feet and dry them off with a towel whenever they get wet
- use an emery board on his nails (takes of the sharp points and gets them used to the feeling of filing)
- Use a wet cotton ball to clean the area under his eyes (if your dog's breed collects drainage under his eyes)
- Wipe his ears out with a damp cotton ball to get him used to his ear cleanings
All of these activities should take place starting right when you bring them home and while they are still curious. Once curiosity starts turning in to fear, you may need the assistance of a professional trainer to overcome your dogs' objections to these activities.
And speaking of professional training, Bandit's Bathhouse & Pet Grooming Salon strongly encourages all dog owners, no matter how big or small your dog is, to work with a trainer while your dog is young. Many future troubles can be avoided by setting up limits and expectations for you and your dog and you'll enjoy a much happier relationship.
