Bandit's Bathhouse Story

While living in Santa Barbara, CA, I adopted 7 year old Bandit, my border collie mix, in August of 2002. When he arrived, his coat was so matted I didn't know what to do with him. I knew of a place in town that offered do-it-yourself pet grooming so I took Bandit there to see what they recommended. That was all it took to get me hooked on the world of do-it-yourself pet grooming. Not only were all of my supplies provided, not only did I get to leave the mess behind, but more importantly to me, I got educated about how I can best care for Bandit. We clipped off Bandit's mats, and then they introduced me to the proper supplies for keeping Bandit's coat clean and mat-free. Bandit has never had a mat since!

It never occurred to me that using the wrong type of shampoo or conditioner or brush on my dog could cause him so much discomfort. But it can! I knew nothing then about 'doubled coated' dogs, or the implications of that kind of coat. I knew nothing about forced-air dryers and how they can blow out the loose fur at the groomers and leave my home so much cleaner. It was all new and exciting to me.

I became a regular at the dog wash. Bandit loves the beach and the water, and it was no problem enjoying time there with him because I knew I could swing by the shop and wash him up before we went home. The service was convenient, affordable, educational and fun!

In 2003, Bandit and I moved back to my hometown of Rochester, NY and started making plans for Bandit's Bathhouse and Pet Grooming Salon. In order to fulfill my desire to help all pet owners better care for their pets, I attended dog grooming school and became a school certified groomer for all breeds of dogs. Bandit has supported me the whole way.

Bandit's Bathhouse and Pet Grooming Salon Mission Statement: To provide a safe, clean, caring and fun, family oriented salon offering quality, convenient and affordable grooming service for pets, while educating pet owners about their pets and how best to care for them.
